Machine Learning Bootcamp for Kids
An interactive, hands-on course introducing young learners to the exciting world of machine learning.
Dates: Thursdays - Weekly from June 19th to July 3rd
Time: 4pm - 5pm
Location: MC2 - Doncaster
Devices: BYO Laptops. Devices available for hire
Get ready to explore how computers learn just like people do! In this fun and hands-on course, young learners will dive into the world of Machine Learning by training smart assistants, teaching computers new words, and seeing how machines interpret voices, drawings and even emotions.
Through exciting projects like building voice commands systems and drawing interpreters, students will discover how ML is different from regular programming, how it learns from inputs (even the weird ones!) and why it sometimes get things hilariously wrong. They’ll also learn how machines can act human-like, use confidence scores when training, and respond in surprisingly clever ways. But only if we train them right.
By the end of the course, students will understand the basics of how AI works, and walk away with a strong foundation in digital thinking, creativity and the ethical side of teaching machines.
No coding experience is needed, just curiousity and imagination.
Suitable for kids age 8+

Curriculum Overview
Foundations of Machine Learning: Build an understanding of how machines learn through engaging, hands-on activities and real-world examples.
Introduction to Data and Inputs: Explore how machines use different types of data like voice, drawings, and tone to make decisions.
Confidence, Decision-Making & Mistakes: Learn how machines make guesses, assign confidence scores, and sometimes get things hilariously wrong.
Human-Like AI Behaviours: Discover how we can teach machines to act and sound more like people through training and tone.
Creative Training Projects: Design and train your own mini AI assistants using simple tools to explore how input affects output.
Workshop Highlights:
Fun AI coding challenges: Students will develop their own custom machine learning models and use them in coding challenges.
Computational thinking: They'll develop computational thinking by breaking down complex problems and creating logical solutions.
Creative problem-solving: Narrative-driven challenges will enhance student’s ability to think critically and creatively.
Engineering design: Students will apply engineering principles while building and refining machine learning models.
